Tomcat Murr by E.T.A. Hoffman

How weird.

A dozen internautes agree on a forum on the Librarything website to read together “The life and opinion of the Tomcat Murr” by E.T.A Hoffmann, a book nearly 200 years old and as distant from fashionable reading as Pluto is from the Sun.

How weird indeed, especially that I too have committed myself to this group-read.
What can the modern reader expect from this book written a long time ago and in a completely different world?

The reader's form a relay team of rave reviewers and push the ownership of the book Tomcat Murr in 8 weeks from 198 to 229

Not only a nice symbolic way to pay back Hoffman for the joy he has given us with his work, but also a way to see how different people see different things in the same book. The reviews, all genuine, are all superb essays shining a different light on a masterwork which we hope is saved from a shadowy existence.
