A few weeks ago, visiting Rome, I had my afternoon espresso at the Antico Caffè Greco.
The Greco is a historic landmark cafe, at Via dei Condotti, and is exactly 250 years old. Over these years it had a number of important regular visitors like Stendhal, Goethe, Byron, Franz Liszt, Keats, Henrik Ibsen, Hans Christian Andersen and many others.
I am a real sucker for such historic haunts, and could not but make a pilgrimage too to that famous place. Sipping my coffee and eating my piece of plum pie, in that unchanged historical place was such a moment where everything seems just to fall together.
